A modular MBBR tank system is built from repeatable tank units and process stages that can be added over time. Rather than committing to full capacity on day one, you can install what the current load needs and extend the system as flows grow or discharge limits tighten. Because MBBR is a fixed-film process, stages can be arranged in series to build nitrification or nitrogen removal onto an existing carbon-removal reactor.
Why modular
Modularity helps where load is uncertain, where a site is growing, or where budget is best staged. Each module carries its own carriers, screens and aeration, so capacity is added in defined increments and the process can be tuned stage by stage. Staged MBBR trains are also a natural way to separate treatment functions — for example a roughing stage followed by a nitrifying stage.
The number of modules, the fill of carriers in each, and the staging are all defined from your flow and load data during the engineering review — we do not fix them in advance.
Modular MBBR Tank — Configuration Choices (project-specific — confirmed per project)
| Parameter | Typical Value | Unit | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expansion model | add modules / stages | — | Phased capacity |
| Staging | single or multi-stage | — | e.g. carbon then nitrification |
| Tank material | per configuration | — | Steel, GRP/FRP or PE/PP |
| Carrier fill | per stage | — | Set by treatment target |
| Sizing basis | flow + load | — | Set during engineering review |
